I'm loving it. Just like an episode from the show, and a great OC. Well done!

Thank you! "Just like an episode from the show" is exactly what I was going for, so I'm so glad to know it reads that way!

Hee! I loved Sam and Dean here, and Vanessa as well. The humour was wonderful, and the whole thing was very very awesome. ::nodnods:: You managed to place it in canon very well, which I appreciated a lot. :)

This was great! Vanessa is right up there with Sarah for real supporting characters, and I loved the idea of a killer nun and the creepy haunted flea market house.

Poor Sam though. I don't think it would be a big deal to try to stay in touch with some "normal" friends...the fact that he can't let himself join those two worlds is so sad.

I adored Sarah (five seasons in, and "Provenance" is still one of my favorite episodes), so the comparison thrills me. Thank you.

Poor Sam, indeed. My feeling was that by the middle of S2, Sam would see it as kind of hopeless to try to keep in touch with "normal" friends, and figure it was best to just not try.

This was utterly charming and adorable, and it's so nice to read a story where the boys are clearly in character and yet not doooooooomed.

This. Is the kind of story I LOVE!

Great plot--really logically planned out; great character--Vanessa was fully fleshed out; and spot-on writing of the boys.

Excellent writing, so many great spots in it, but I especially loved Sam reacting to Dean's flirting and Vanessa adding to Dean's list on the chalkboard.

I had fun with that chalkboard (does it show?) and I am glad to know Vanessa works as an OC.

Lots of fun - how lovely to have an angst-free (well, as much as you get with the Winchester boys) case fic! And Vanessa was a real treat. Loved the flirting between her and Dean, even though - especially though - it wasn't going to lead to anything. A very refreshing OC, and a nice balance of action and banter. Very nice Sam-voice, too! Felt true.

Thanks for sharing. :)

It's hard to get them completely away from the angst (oh, canon), but I try.

I am glad you liked Vanessa; I am shamelessly fond of her.

Miss Badgersham will haunt my dreams for many weeks to come, I think. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I feel like I just got a new S2 episode that I'd somehow passed over on my DVDs. Fantastic read, and thank you for what I know is a heck of a lot of hard work!

This was really good! Nice solid casefile fic, and it was fun visiting a less stressful time in the boys' lives (and I never thought I'd be saying that back in S2, lol). Great job with your OC too. Vanessa was an interesting character, she felt like a real person, not just some bimbo in distress, ya know?

Kudos!

I love that house! How did you even come up with all that stuff? The piano with no legs? The bathtub of beanie babies? The chest of drawers full of ammo?
Great read.

Date: 2010-07-02 02:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] like-a-raven.livejournal.com
Thank you!

The chest of drawers of ammo came from wanting something small enough to fit in the dresser while heavy enough to make it hard to move. And it amused me to make it something Dean might actually want, after 20,000 words of his finding everything in the house weird and freaky.

All the other stuff, though . . . Some of it was suggested by my amazing betas, some of it from whatever I was reading/watching/listening to when I needed an idea, some of it from I don't even know.
